2017/12/26

On December 26, 2017, when jointly meeting the press with Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani of Afghanistan and Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif of Pakistan, Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed that as a good friend of Afghanistan and Pakistan, China is willing to play a constructive role in improving Afghanistan-Pakistan relations within its capacity through China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Dialogue mechanism.

Wang Yi said that Afghanistan and Pakistan are neighboring countries connected by mountains and rivers, and brothers with a shared destiny. There are millions of reasons for the two countries to well develop bilateral relations, but no single reason for bilateral relations to go backwards. The realization of sound and stable development of Afghanistan-Pakistan relations is not only the happiness of both countries and their peoples, but a blessing for neighboring countries including China. China is a good friend of Afghanistan and Pakistan and stands ready to play a constructive role in improving Afghanistan-Pakistan relations within its capacity through the China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Dialogue mechanism. The Chinese side expects and welcomes Afghanistan and Pakistan to make positive efforts to this end. The institutionalized operation of trilateral Foreign Ministers' Dialogue will certainly promote bilateral and trilateral friendly exchanges and cooperation.
