Li Keqiang Sends Congratulatory Letter on Start-up of the First Phase of China-Thailand Railway Project

On December 21, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang sent a congratulatory letter on the launch of the construction of the first phase of the China-Thailand railway project. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of Thailand attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the project.

Li Keqiang expressed in the congratulatory letter that the China-Thailand railway project is a flagship project of bilateral cooperation in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and production capacity, which embodies the spirit of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits. It is also a project with mutual benefit and win-win results, which will effectively improve the level of the infrastructure construction and interconnectivity in Thailand and the region, facilitate the sustainable development of Thai economy, drive the development and prosperity in the region and improve the people's livelihood. It is hoped that the two countries could continuously maintain close cooperation, complete the first phase of the China-Thailand railway with high quality, steadily push ahead with the related work of the second phase of the project, and strive to realize the interconnection of the China-Thailand railway and the China-Laos railway, thus facilitating economic and trade exchanges as well as personnel exchanges among countries along the railway, and also achieving mutual benefit and multi-win results.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Thailand are as close as one family. As a friendly neighbor of Thailand, China attaches high importance to developing its relationship with Thailand. China is willing to make joint efforts with Thailand, enhance the alignment of development strategies, and take the China-Thailand railway cooperation project as a new platform to constantly promote bilateral practical cooperation featuring mutual benefit and win-win results and push forward China-Thailand comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for greater development, in a bid to bring more well-being to the two peoples.
