Li Keqiang and President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines Jointly Meet the Press

On the afternoon of November 15, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang and President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines jointly met the press at the Malacanan Palace in Manila after their talks.

Leaders of both countries spoke positively of the achievements of their talks. Li Keqiang expressed that China and the Philippines are close neighbors, and the two peoples enjoy long-lasting and continuous friendship. Both countries have created numerous much-told stories of exchanges. Although there are ups and downs, people of China and the Philippines hope both countries to continue bilateral friendship and have never changed their mind to usher in a bright future together. It is winter in the northern hemisphere, while Manila is warm, which is just as the current China-Philippines relations being improved on a gradual basis. It is hoped that both sides to consolidate this momentum and retrieve the lost time, in a bid to push bilateral relations and cooperation for continuous and forward-looking development.

Li Keqiang stressed that both as developing countries, China and the Philippines shoulder heavy tasks of developing economies and improving people's livelihood. At present, both sides have made great strides forward in such cooperation areas as infrastructure construction, trade, tourism, agriculture and poverty reduction. China is willing to, together with the Philippines, integrate development strategies, participate in large-scale infrastructure construction of the Philippines, discuss cooperative plans for next 5 to 10 years, and send a clear signal of sustained and stable development of bilateral relations to both countries and the international community.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China welcomes Philippine media to visit China more frequently, and jointly seize opportunities with Chinese media, so as to contribute to opening up a new chapter for bilateral relations and cooperation through their work.

Rodrigo Duterte expressed that Premier Li Keqiang's official visit to the Philippines fully shows an important progress of relations between both countries. The Philippines is encouraged by the realization of turnaround of bilateral relations and maintenance of a positive development momentum, and glad to see an early harvest achieved from cooperation in various fields. The country thanks China for its supports in the development of the Philippines and the hosting of the series of Leaders' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation, and is willing to work with China to further enhance exchanges and cooperation in various fields, continue to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results with cooperation featuring mutual respect, equality and pragmatism, so as to bring greater well-beings to the two peoples and make positive contributions to regional stability and development.
