Wang Yi: "Belt and Road" Initiative and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Run in Parallel with Mutual Promotion
2017/07/14

On July 14, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with President of the 72nd Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Miroslav Lajcak.

Wang Yi said that the "Belt and Road" initiative and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are consistent in ideas and general direction with common devotion to advancing infrastructure connectivity, conducting broader regional cooperation, and realizing common, green and sustainable development. The two mechanisms can absolutely run in parallel with mutual promotion. China will continue to, in the principle of wide consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, together with the international community, push forward the "Belt and Road" construction.

Miroslav Lajcak expressed that it is one of the core work of the UN General Assembly to advance the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The "Belt and Road" initiative proposed by China has not only provided strong impetus for global sustainable development, but also set an example for cooperation among all countries and regions.
