2017/05/24

On May 24, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang met at Ziguangge of Zhongnanhai with Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel of Germany, who was in China for the first meeting of High-Level China-Germany People-to-people Exchange Dialogue Mechanism.

Li Keqiang expressed that a healthy and stable development of China-Germany relations is of positive significance for both countries, Europe, and the world. Li Keqiang said that I am going to pay an official visit to Germany and hold the Annual China-Germany Prime Ministers' Meeting at the invitation of Chancellor Angela Merkel. It is expected to, through this visit, enhance political mutual trust, tap potential for mutually beneficial cooperation, and intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges. As the uncertain and unstable factors in current international political and economic situation are still prominent, both sides should jointly send out a strong signal that China, Germany and Europe support the economic globalization as well as trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, safeguard regional peace and stability, and promote development and prosperity.

Li Keqiang stressed that China is willing to, together with Germany, adhere to mutual respect and equal treatment, respect each other's core interests and major concerns, properly handle differences and disagreements, push bilateral relations and practical cooperation for in-depth development, and play an exemplary role, in a bid to better benefit the two peoples.

Sigmar Gabriel expressed that Germany-China relations are solid and stable, which deserves to be cherished doubly. 2017 is an important year for bilateral relations. Both sides have been conducting frequent high-level exchanges, providing important opportunities for further enhancement of friendly cooperation. The success of the first meeting of High-Level China-Germany People-to-people Exchange Dialogue Mechanism has opened a new chapter for bilateral exchanges and cooperation. The German side eagerly looks forward to Premier Li Keqiang's visit to the country, and stands ready to, together with China, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, elevate bilateral relations to a new stage, and jointly commit to building a multi-polar world of free trade.
