The 10th Meeting of the China-Viet Nam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation Held

On April 17, 2017, the 10th meeting of the China-Viet Nam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation was held in Beijing. State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh of Viet Nam co-chaired the meeting.

Yang Jiechi expressed that since the 9th meeting of the China-Viet Nam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, leaders of the two parties and both countries have maintained frequent contacts, with steady advancement of bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields and continuous and sound development momentum of China-Viet Nam relations. For the next step, both sides should make joint efforts to ensure the exchange visits between leaders of both parties and both countries within this year a complete success, further improve the quality and standard of bilateral practical cooperation, and consolidate the public opinion foundation of bilateral relationship.

Agreeing with Yang Jiechi's assessment on bilateral relations, Pham Binh Minh congratulated China on the latest development achievements, and expressed that attaching great importance to Viet Nam-China comprehensive strategic cooperation, Viet Nam is willing to, together with China, continuously enhance strategic communication, promote political mutual trust, and deepen practical cooperation. Pham Binh Minh wishes the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China a complete success.

Speaking positively of the important role the China-Viet Nam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation played since its establishment 10 years ago in pushing forward the development of bilateral relations, the two sides agreed to actively implement the consensus reached by leaders of both parties and both countries, make overall plans for the whole year's work with deepening high-level exchanges as its mainline, focus on advancing cooperation in such areas as joint-constructions of the "Belt and Road" and the "Two Corridors and One Ring", investment, production capacity, infrastructure and cross-border economic cooperation zones, continuously strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, properly handle differences, and safeguard maritime peace and stability, so as to push China-Viet Nam comprehensive strategic partnership for sustained and healthy development.

After the meeting, both sides jointly attended the signing ceremony of the minutes.
