Xi Jinping Sends Message of Condolences to Vladimir Putin Over the Explosion in St. Petersburg Metro

On April 4, 2017, President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolences to President Vladimir Putin over the explosion in the St. Petersburg metro which caused heavy casualties.

Xi Jinping expressed that I am shocked to learn about the severe explosion incident in the St. Petersburg metro of your country that caused heavy casualties. The Chinese side strongly condemns such terrifying terrorist act. On behalf of the Chinese government and people as well as in my own name, I would like to extend deep condolences to the victims and sincere sympathies to the injured and bereaved families. The Chinese people will firmly stand together with the Russian people at this tough time. China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism, and stands ready to work with Russia and the international community to strengthen anti-terrorism cooperation and safeguard world and regional peace and security.
