On the afternoon of March 31, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Tomislav Nikolic of Serbia, who was in China for a state visit.

Li Keqiang expressed that China and Serbia enjoy solid political mutual trust and constantly deepen practical cooperation in various fields. President Xi Jinping's talks with you yesterday were fruitful and a number of consensus were reached. China supports Serbia in choosing a development path that suits its own national conditions, and is willing to, together with Serbia, continuously adhere to the spirits of mutual respect and equal cooperation, push China-Serbia comprehensive strategic partnership for in-depth development, and jointly commit to promoting the peace, stability, development and prosperity in the two countries and regions.

Li Keqiang pointed out that at present, China and Serbia share rapidly growing trade and investment, and constantly make new breakthroughs in production capacity, infrastructure construction and other fields. It is hoped that both sides could further tap cooperation potential, give play to the role of the "16+1" cooperation and other mechanisms, advance cooperation in major projects in accordance with the market principles and commercial frameworks, and achieve the sustainable development based on mutual benefit and win-win results. The two countries should continuously well build Budapest-Belgrade railway, and make it an example of China-Serbia flagship cooperation and international production capacity cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC). The two sides should also strengthen cooperation in such fields as finance and customs to aid the expansion of bilateral trade, expand cooperation in culture, tourism, aviation and other fields, enhance non-governmental exchanges and friendship between the two peoples, and further intensify communication and coordination within the "16+1 cooperation" framework.

Tomislav Nikolic expressed that Serbia is friendly towards China and is the first country among the CEEC to establish comprehensive strategic partnership with China. The two countries witness the rapid development in trade and investment cooperation and achieve positive progress from cooperation in transportation, power station, steel mill and other major projects, which boosts the economic development of Serbia and promotes CEEC's cooperation with China. Serbia is willing to continuously expand its cooperation with China within bilateral and the "16+1 cooperation" frameworks. Serbia welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in Serbia and hopes to further enhance cooperation in major projects in such areas as infrastructure and production capacity, speed up the construction of Budapest-Belgrade railway, expand trade in agricultural products, and jointly exploit cooperation opportunities in the third-party market.
