Wang Yi: What the World Needs is not Single-handed Heroes, but Partners Standing Together Through Thick and Thin
2017/03/20

On March 20, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed at the annual meeting of China Development Forum that facing the current "disordered" world, the international community expects China to play a greater role for stability and development in the world, and even expects China to play certain leading role in international systems, global governance and other aspects. As the world's second largest economy and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China stands ready to actively shoulder its due international responsibilities. But China has never thought about leading the world. In the era of globalization, what the world needs is not single-handed heroes, but cooperation partners standing together through thick and thin. Therefore, China puts forward a proposal worldwide to identify the establishment of partnership as the striving direction of exchanges among countries, which is widely welcomed by most countries.

Wang Yi said that in recent years, under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, China has actively committed to developing and deepening partnerships with various countries. Up to the end of last year, China had already established partnerships in different forms with 97 countries and international organizations, achieving full coverage of partnerships with major countries, neighboring and developing countries. Partnership has become an important symbol of China's diplomacy.
