Wang Yi Attends the Annual Meeting of China Development Forum and Delivers a Speech
2017/03/20

On March 20, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended upon invitation the annual meeting of China Development Forum and delivered a speech titled "Building Partnerships, Seeking Peaceful Development". Wang Yi noted that, at present, the world has not completely recovered from "disorder", and the international community expects China to play a greater role in maintaining global stability and development. China is willing to actively shoulder its due international responsibilities, but has never sought to dominate the world. In the age of globalization, what the world needs is not single-handed heroes, but cooperation partners that can stand together through thick and thin. In line with the concepts of "dialogue rather than confrontation, forming partnership rather than alliance", China is willing to establish equal, open and cooperative partnerships with other countries, on the basis of which, China can accelerate the building of a new type of international relations featuring win-win cooperation and make unremitting efforts to the long-term goal of forging a community of shared future for mankind.

Wang Yi pointed out that, the partnership that China advocates is markedly characterized by seeking peaceful cooperation, adhering to equal treatment, encouraging openness and inclusiveness, and emphasizing shared and win-win results. By the end of last year, China had established different forms of partnerships with 97 countries and international organizations, achieving full coverage of partnerships with major, neighbouring and developing countries.

Wang Yi said that, China will, on the current basis, further enrich the connotation of the partnership, elevate its standard and coverage, and forge a closer global partnership network. China will actively promote the construction of the major-country partnership to jointly promote world peace and development, further deepen the partnerships with neighbouring countries to advance the overall prosperity and revitalization of Asia, effectively strengthen the partnerships with developing countries, support each other and make progress together in respective development process. China will constantly enhance the partnerships with countries along the "Belt and Road" and other relevant countries to realize common development. China firmly safeguards the international multilateral mechanism with the UN at the core and global free trade system, and is committed to pushing the global governance system towards a more just and reasonable direction.
