2017/02/22

On the evening of February 21, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve of France jointly met the press and answered questions.

Li Keqiang introduced the outcomes of the talks between him and Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve and expressed that both sides have reached extensive consensus. Both sides agree that China-France relations have reached a new historic height and its importance far exceeds the bilateral scope. For China and France, strengthening strategic communication and coordination, deepening practical cooperation in various fields and jointly coping with all kinds of risks and challenges will send the signal of stability and positivity to the world, the market and the international society.

Li Keqiang expressed that as the product of world peace and development, globalization is conducive to forging a peaceful international environment, realizing the optimal allocation of resources within the global range and better giving play to the comparative advantage of all countries. For issues emerged during the globalization process, we should deal with them in the continued course of opening up, instead of giving it up due to slight risks, closing the doors or even seeking the benefits at others' expense.

Li Keqiang pointed out that as the largest developing country, China is not only a participant and beneficiary of globalization, but a contributor of it. Last year, China contributed over 30 percent to the world economic growth. China will continue to deepen reform, expand opening up and open its door wider to the outside world. We are willing to, together with various countries, uphold the notion of openness, inclusiveness and win-win cooperation, oppose protectionism of all its forms and safeguard an open global trade system and the multilateral framework.

Bernard Cazeneuve noted that he and Premier Li Keqiang have conducted constructive talks. The French side attaches great importance to developing its relations with China. France-China cooperation enjoys a solid foundation and fruitful outcomes, which has vigorously promoted respective economic development and people's welfare. France is willing to, together with China, strengthen communication and exchanges in all areas and at all levels, continuously expand the width and depth of practical cooperation and oppose trade protectionism so as to boost the common development and prosperity of France, Europe, China and the world.
