On February 20, 2017, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the sixth event presenting Chinese provinces at the Blue Hall of the Ministry with the theme of "An open China: Amazing Yunnan, Sharing its Best with the World". Wang Yi said that today we hold the first presenting event in 2017 to grandly present Yunnan province, which enjoys the reputation of "south of colorful clouds." As one of the regions that have the longest history of opening up to the outside world, Yunnan has always been the link of economic integration and cultural fusion between China and South and Southeast Asian countries as well as between their peoples. In recent years, relying on such cooperation platforms as China-South Asia Expo, Yunnan has maintained ever-closer connection with the world. In particular, with the accelerated advancement of the "Belt and Road" construction, Yunnan enjoys more prominent regional advantages and is now marching toward a higher level of opening up, broader fields of opening up as well as a closer relationship with Asia and the world.

Wang Yi expressed that Yunnan has beautiful sceneries and rich resources as well as enjoys ethnic harmony and rapid economic development. Meanwhile it also puts great efforts in poverty reduction. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the assisting authority of Jinping and Malipo, two national-level poverty-stricken counties in Yunnan province. For a long time, this project has been strongly supported by governments, organizations and enterprises of various countries and especially the foreign diplomatic corps in China. On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I would like to offer sincere gratitude.

Wang Yi said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched the event to present Chinese provinces last year and has gained remarkable achievements as well as precious friendship. In the following year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to hold the event and create new opportunities for exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries so as to make new and greater efforts in serving domestic development, the opening up in local regions and diplomatic envoys in China.

Chen Hao said that Yunnan enjoys a long history, profound culture, magnificent landscapes, rich resources, various ethnic groups, great people and glorious land. In January 2015, during President Xi Jinping 's inspection in Yunnan, he asked the province to actively serve and integrate into the national development strategies and strive to become the demonstration area of national unity and progress in China, the vanguard of ecological civilization construction and the radial center for South and Southeast Asia, which injects new impetus and epochal connotation into the development of Yunnan. We are willing to connect with neighboring countries and the world to realize common development, common prosperity and our dreams together.

Ruan Chengfa presented Yunnan from the aspects of natural environment, cultural charm, advantages in opening up, growth momentum and others. He noted that Yunnan is committed to promoting policy coordination, facility connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration and people-to-people bonds towards the outside and welcomes people from all walks of life of China and foreign countries to experience the beauty and charm of Yunnan.
