Ministry of Foreign Affairs Holds 2016 Oath-Taking Ceremony for Newly-appointed Chinese Diplomatic Envoys Stationed Abroad

On December 27, 2016, Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the first oath-taking ceremony for Chinese diplomatic envoys stationed abroad. Foreign Minister Wang Yi supervised the oath-taking and Assistant Foreign Minister Qian Hongshan presided over the ceremony. Altogether 70 newly-appointed diplomatic envoys in 2016 took their oath to the constitution according to law.

Facing the national flag and the national emblem, all the newly-appointed diplomatic envoys solemnly took their oath. Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in his speech that the oath-taking ceremony is an important step in comprehensively implementing the strategy of governing the country according to the law and in building the team of diplomatic envoys. He urged the envoys to firmly establish the constitution awareness, safeguard the authority of the constitution, and combine the fulfillment of constitutional missions with the strict administration of the ministry and embassies. We should uphold the party principle, stay firm in the political direction, and be absolutely loyal to our party, country and people. We should fulfill our duties, carry out the "Two Duties for One Post" requirement, have the courage to take responsibilities as well as continuously improve our capacity. Under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, we should make greater contributions in pushing forward major country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics.

On behalf of the newly-appointed diplomatic envoys, H.E Luo Zhaohui, Chinese Ambassador to India delivered a speech.
