President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico Meets with Yang Jiechi

On December 12, 2016 local time, President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico met in Mexico City with visiting State Councilor Yang Jiechi.

Yang Jiechi conveyed President Xi Jinping’s sincere greetings to Enrique Peña Nieto. Yang Jiechi said that under the direct leadership and promotion of both heads of state, China-Mexico comprehensive strategic partnership has enjoyed rapid development, and witnessed increasingly prosperous all-round cooperation. China is ready to join efforts with Mexico to implement consensus reached by the two heads of state into continuous actions, further intensify friendly exchanges at all levels, deepen practical cooperation in such fields as trade, investment, energy, infrastructure and financial services, and expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges in a bid to push China-Mexico friendly cooperation for more outcomes as well as benefit the two peoples. President Xi Jinping’s successful visits to the three countries in Latin America not long ago have injected new and robust impetus into China-Latin America relations. Mexico is an important country in the Latin American region. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Mexican side to strengthen communication and coordination and jointly push China-Latin America overall cooperation to new highs.

Enrique Peña Nieto expressed that in recent years, Mexico and China have enjoyed increasingly profound friendship, intensified bilateral high-level exchanges and constantly deepened political mutual trust and witnessed fruitful outcomes from mutually beneficial cooperation. Mexico is committed to deepening comprehensive strategic partnership with China. The Mexican side is willing to make joint efforts with China to expand bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, aviation and other fields, and reinforce cultural exchanges so as to promote Mexico-China relations for faster and better development.

On the same day, Yang Jiechi also held talks with Foreign Minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu of Mexico, exchanging views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern.
