Ministry of Foreign Affairs Holds Event Presenting Guizhou Province
2016/12/06

On December 6, 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) held the 5th event presenting Chinese provinces at the Blue Hall of the Ministry with the theme of "An open China: Colorful Guizhou, Global Vision". Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a speech. Secretary of Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Chen Min'er made remarks and Governor of the People's Government of Guizhou Province Sun Zhigang gave the presentation. Over 500 people including diplomatic envoys and representatives in China from over 120 countries and international organizations, representatives from industrial and commercial sectors, Chinese and foreign experts and scholars, and journalists were present at the event.

Wang Yi said that today we are going to present an important province in western China, Guizhou province.

Wang Yi noted that although Guizhou is located in the inland of western China, it enjoys a special status in the process of China's opening up and historical development. Over two thousand years ago, the Ancient Tea Horse Road and the Southern Silk Road, which cross Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, had continuously transported silk, tea and other products produced in China to South Asia.

In modern China, the Zunyi Meeting held during the Long March realized a great turn for the CPC and the Chinese revolutionary cause towards victory from setbacks. Today, Guizhou is relying on the advantage of locating at the connecting line of the "Belt and Road" to become a fresh force of China's opening up strategy. Big data, macro-ecology, big tourism and other emerging industries are flourishing. The Eco Forum Global Annual Conference Guiyang has become an important platform for China's opening up and cooperation.

Wang Yi expressed that today's Guizhou Day draws a successful conclusion of this year's presenting events. From NingXia, the Oasis Beyond the Great Wall, to Guangxi, famous for its most beautiful scenery in the world, to Shaanxi, known as the birthplace of the Chinese nation, to Sichuan, the land of abundance, and then to Guizhou, the mountainous park province, we have appreciated and enjoyed the profound accumulation of the traditional Chinese culture in central and western China, and felt the vigorous vitalities of China's all-round opening up without leaving the Blue Hall. Next year, we will focus on promoting innovation and upgrade of the presenting events, so as to better serve local opening-up and development, and strive to promote win-win cooperation between China and foreign countries.

Chen Min'er said that as an inland province in western China, Guizhou has gained wide attention from the international community with its various ethnic culture, unique natural ecology and thriving development vitality. Guizhou is approved to establish a national ecological experimental zone, a big data comprehensive experimental zone and an inland open economy experimental zone. In the process of building a moderately prosperous society simultaneously with other regions in China, Guizhou will expand the friend circle in the world of sharing region-based tourism, jointly boosting the development of big data and together building an ecological civilization. Guizhou will ride the "Belt and Road" express, create a sound business environment and further transfer itself into an investment treasure, tourist attraction and ecological green space. Focusing on green ecology, diverse culture, convenient transportation, rich resources, thriving economy, innovation industry, business environment, urban and rural development, opening up and other aspects, Sun Zhigang gave the presentation and welcomed people from all circles both at home and abroad to invest, start business and travel in Guizhou as well as witness and participate in the development of Guizhou.
