Wang Yang Attends the Closing Ceremony of China-US Tourism Year 2016 and Delivers a Speech

On November 20, 2016 local time, the closing ceremony of China-US Tourism Year 2016 was held in Washington D.C. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message. Vice Premier Wang Yang read the message and delivered a speech at the closing ceremony.

Wang Yang said that the China-US Tourism Year 2016, proposed by President Xi Jinping and President Barack Obama is to facilitate friendly exchanges between the two peoples. This year, both sides have held various tourism promotion and non-governmental exchange events, brought a good harvest to tourism cooperation and allowed the two peoples to find pleasure in travelling, which not only injects strong impetus into the economic development of the two countries, but enhances mutual understanding between the two peoples. The expectation of the two heads of state has been realized.

Wang Yang pointed out that China and the US are both countries with rich tourism resources and vast tourism markets. China is now in a booming era of mass tourism, which provides new business opportunities for countries including the US. China is willing to work with the US to implement a more convenient visa policy to provide more convenient, comfortable and safe service, ease the restrictions on tourism investment and encourage enterprises of both countries to expand investment and cooperation as well as share tourism development experience, so as to make a bigger cake of common interests. In the principles of mutual benefit and win-win results, both sides should jointly create a new pattern of China-US tourism exchanges.

Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker of the US attended the closing ceremony and read a congratulatory message from President Barack Obama. Barack Obama congratulated the US-China Tourism Year 2016 on its success and pointed out in the message that the holding of the US-China Tourism Year enables the two peoples to experience new cultures and explore new places, enhances mutual understanding and deepens people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation between both countries. The US government encourages and supports both countries to further expand exchanges and cooperation in tourism.

Chairman of China National Tourism Administration Li Jinzao presided over the closing ceremony. More than 1,000 guests from all circles of China and the US attended the closing ceremony.
