Xi Jinping Meets with Prime Minister Najib Razak of Malaysia

On November 3, 2016, President Xi Jinping met at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with Prime Minister Najib Razak of Malaysia.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Malaysia are close neighbors across the sea. Bilateral relations have achieved substantial development since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries 42 years ago, thanks to both sides' adherence to the way of getting along with each other in mutual respect and mutual trust, cooperation policies of equality, mutual benefit, mutual assistance and win-win results as well as cooperation approaches of close communication, mutual understanding and mutual accommodation. Deepening China-Malaysia good neighborly and friendly cooperation conforms to the fundamental and long-term interests of both sides. China is willing to make joint efforts with Malaysia to continuously enrich the connotation of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership and deepen practical cooperation in various fields, so as to better benefit the two peoples.

Xi Jinping stressed that China and Malaysia should maintain regular high-level exchanges, deepen political mutual trust, firmly seize the mainstream and general direction of the development of bilateral relations, and continuously share mutual understanding and support on major issues of each others' concern. Both sides should enhance the docking of development strategies, so as to lay a solid foundation for deepening bilateral economic and trade cooperation. China welcomes Malaysia's active participation in the "Belt and Road" cooperation, and is willing to, together with Malaysia, jointly advance the construction of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, deepen cooperation in such areas as infrastructure, energy, science and technology, agriculture and finance, steadily boost cooperation in major projects, strengthen communication and cooperation at local levels and expand the outcomes of regional connectivity. Both sides should continuously deepen cooperation in areas of law enforcement and security, including anti-terrorism and fighting against transnational crime, so as to maintain peace and tranquility in the region. The two sides should strengthen exchanges and cooperation in such areas as education, culture, health and media, so as to further enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Najib Razak congratulated on the successful convening of the sixth plenary session of the 18th Communist Party of China Central Committee and China's achievements in economic and social development, stressing that practice has proved that the development pattern of socialism with Chinese characteristics is a correct choice for China. Najib Razak expressed that both countries are friendly neighbors and trustworthy friends. At present, bilateral relations have reached the highest level in history, with deepening mutual trust and booming development in diversified cooperation based on the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. Malaysia is glad to see that China's "Belt and Road" initiative has gained wide response and achieved positive results. Malaysia is ready to enhance cooperation in such areas as economic and trade investment, transportation and port construction under the "Belt and Road" framework, and intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges with China. Malaysia is committed to boosting ASEAN-China relations.
