2016/11/01

On November 1, 2016, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met with Prime Minister Najib Razak of Malaysia at the Great Hall of the People.

Zhang Dejiang said that China and Malaysia are close neighbors. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, bilateral relations have always walked in the forefront of China's relations with Southeast Asian countries. During President Xi Jinping's visit to Malaysia in October 2013, the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership, charting the course for China-Malaysia relations. The NPC stands ready to work with the Malaysian parliament to strengthen friendly exchanges at all levels, effectively implement the important consensus reached by leaders of both states and enhance exchanges on achieving respective strategic national development goals, in order to provide convenience and legal protection for bilateral economic and trade cooperation and business investment. Both sides should advance cooperation in education, culture, tourism and other areas and consolidate the basis of public opinion for China-Malaysia friendship so as to constantly push forward China-Malaysia relations.

Najib Razak stated that the Malaysian side always regards Malaysia-China relations as a priority of its foreign relations, and is ready to work with China to further deepen bilateral cooperation in various areas.

Zhang Ping attended the meeting.
