State Councilor Yang Jiechi Attends Opening Ceremony of Symposium on Major-Country Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics and Celebration Marking the 60th Anniversary of Establishment of China Institute of International Studies

On October 19, 2016, State Councilor Yang Jiechi attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the Symposium on Major-Country Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics and the celebration marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China Institute of International Studies (CIIS).

State Councilor Yang Jiechi pointed out that through the unremitting efforts of several generations, the CIIS has become one of the most influential think-tanks both at home and abroad and made important contributions to the diplomatic cause of the People's Republic of China. State Councilor Yang Jiechi introduced important outcomes from the innovation on diplomatic theories and practices of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, and encouraged the CIIS as well as experts and scholars in the field of international studies to seize the rare opportunities brought by the great development of diplomatic work to further well conduct researches on international relations under the new situation, stay on the right direction, strengthen theoretical innovation, serve the frontline diplomacy, reinforce public diplomacy, foster a sturdy style, cultivate first-class talents and strive to establish a Chinese school in international studies, so as to make greater contributions to opening up a new situation for major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics.
