Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Tsend Munkh-Orgil of Mongolia
2016/09/22

On September 21, 2016 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Tsend Munkh-Orgil of Mongolia in New York.

Wang Yi said that China and Mongolia are friendly and close neighbors. China appreciates that the Mongolian side attach strategic priority to developing relations with China in its foreign relations. It is hoped that both sides could seize the new opportunities for the development of bilateral relations, implement the consensus reached by leaders of both countries, and dovetail the "Belt and Road" initiative with Mongolia's "Prairie Road" strategy so as to further tap into the potential of bilateral cooperation. Besides maintaining traditional cooperation in energy and minerals, both sides should actively explore new areas of cooperation, such as housing construction, agriculture and animal husbandry. The two wheels will promote the stable development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, thus assisting the economic and social development of Mongolia. The two countries should also expand inter-party exchanges, strengthen experience exchanges on state governance and administration and maintain coordination and cooperation in international and multilateral affairs.

Tsend Munkh-Orgil agreed with Foreign Minister Wang Yi's thoughts on the development of bilateral relations, and noted that developing relations with China is a priority in Mongolia's diplomatic policy. The Mongolian side will maintain the continuity of cooperation with China, further intensify bilateral high-level exchanges, well align its strategies with China's "Belt and Road" initiative and strengthen practical cooperation in infrastructure construction and other areas with China.
