Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault of France

On the evening of September 18, 2016 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in New York with Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault of France.

Wang Yi said that as permanent members of the UN Security Council, China and France have maintained sound coordination in international affairs. It is hoped that both sides could continue to strengthen cooperation during this session of the UN General Assembly. China-France cooperation in building the British Hinkley Point nuclear power plant project has made new progress recently. China is willing to further conduct third-party cooperation with France.

Jean-Marc Ayrault congratulated China on successfully hosting the G20 Hangzhou Summit. The French side is willing to intensify high-level exchanges with China, reinforce the third-party market cooperation and reflect as well as keep a high-level development of bilateral relations.

Both sides also exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, climate change, the Syrian issue, the Palestine-Israel issue and other topics.
