Li Keqiang Meets with President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski of Peru

On the afternoon of September 14, 2016, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski of Peru.

Li Keqiang noted that over the past 45 years since China and Peru established diplomatic relations, bilateral relations have scored substantial progress. President Xi Jinping and you held fruitful talks yesterday, reaching new and important consensus on guiding the development of bilateral relationship. China regards Peru as an important cooperative partner in Latin America, and is ready to, together with Peru, consolidate political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation and exchanges in various fields, enhance coordination and cooperation in international affairs, and promote the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting to be held in Peru within this year a success.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China is willing to work with Peru to give full play to the leading role of bilateral free trade agreement and various economic cooperation mechanisms, focus on pushing forward production capacity cooperation in the areas of mining, energy and infrastructure construction, advance major projects including the railway linking the Pacific to the Atlantic, and jointly advocate trade liberalization and investment facilitation, so as to create a sound external environment for China-Peru and China-Latin America economic and trade cooperation.

Pedro Pablo Kuczynski expressed that Peru and China enjoy sound development in bilateral relations and huge potential in mutually beneficial cooperation. The new Peruvian government stands ready to learn from China's development experience and continue promoting cooperation with China. It also welcomes Chinese enterprises to participate in the construction of railway, subway, ports and other infrastructures in Peru. As the railway project connecting the Pacific to the Atlantic is of great significance, it is hoped that both sides can conduct a feasibility study and devote active efforts to the end. Peru is willing to intensify cooperation with China within the APEC framework, jointly oppose trade protectionism and advance trade liberalization.
