2016/09/07

On the evening of September 6, 2016 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met in the hotel where he stayed in Vientiane with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore.

Li Keqiang said that Singapore is an important cooperation partner of China in the region. Maintaining close communication between leaders of the two countries is conducive to safeguarding the development direction of bilateral relations, promoting bilateral practical cooperation and enhancing the sentiments between the two peoples so as to better achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Li Keqiang pointed out that developing its relations with the ASEAN is a priority of China's neighborhood diplomacy. This year coincides with the 25th anniversary of China-ASEAN dialogue relations, and bilateral relations are becoming increasingly mature. China is willing to further expand common interests, seek common ground while shelving differences and jointly send out the positive message of safeguarding regional peace and stability with the ASEAN. It is hoped that Singapore, as the coordinator of China-ASEAN relations, can continue to play a constructive role in deepening the development of China-ASEAN relations.

Lee Hsien Loong noted that Singapore is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation as well as advance the smooth implementation of key cooperation projects with China. The ASEAN and China have forged a sound relationship of mutual benefit and win-win results over time and both sides share much more common interests than differences. As the coordinator of ASEAN-China relations, Singapore is willing to make positive efforts in enhancing mutual understanding and expanding common interests among all parties.
