Xi Jinping Sends Message of Condolences to Head of Senate of Supreme Assembly Nigmatulla Yuldashev of Uzbekistan over death of President Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan

On September 3, 2016, President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolences to Head of Senate of Supreme Assembly Nigmatulla Yuldashev of Uzbekistan over the unfortunate death of President Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan due to illness. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, as well as in his own name, President Xi Jinping expressed profound condolences and extended sincere sympathies to the Uzbek people and the families of Islam Karimov.

Xi Jinping expressed in the message that President Islam Karimov, the founder of the Republic of Uzbekistan, has made historic contributions to winning national independence and realizing development and prosperity of the country. President Islam Karimov has long been firmly committed to the friendship and cooperation causes between China and Uzbekistan, and devoted painstaking efforts to promoting the development of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership and enhancing traditional friendship between the two peoples. President Islam Karimov's unfortunate passing is not only a huge loss to the Uzbek people, but also means the Chinese people have lost a true friend.

Xi Jinping stressed that China attaches high importance to the development of China-Uzbekistan comprehensive strategic partnership and is willing to work together with Uzbekistan to consolidate good-neighborly friendship, deepen mutually-beneficial cooperation and constantly push forward bilateral relationship, so as to better benefit the two countries and their peoples.
