Wang Yi Meets with Governor and Chief Minister of Goa

On August 12, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Goa of India with Governor Mridula Sinha, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Legislative Assembly Speaker Anant Shet of Goa.

Wang Yi expressed that the BRICS Summit is to be held in Goa. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the Indian central government and the government of Goa and jointly make well preparations for the attendance of Chinese leaders, so as to ensure the success of the summit. As a major bridge and bond connecting East and West in history, Goa has conducted close exchanges with China. During this visit, I can feel the friendship of the people of Goa towards the Chinese people. It is hoped that by hosting this summit, Goa can further enhance its cooperation with China. China is willing to deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges with Goa and extend bilateral cooperation in more fields.

The Goa side said that India-China relationship in recent years has been developing continuously. Honored to host the BRICS Summit, Goa is willing to make active efforts for the sake of a successful summit and the attendance of Chinese leaders. Goa welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in the state and extend cooperation in fields including high technology, culture and education.
