Xi Jinping Sends Letter of Congratulation on the Convening of the Coordinators' Meeting on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation
2016/07/29

On July 29, 2016, President Xi Jinping sent a letter to the Coordinators' Meeting on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held in Beijing, warmly congratulating the successful convening of the meeting.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit held last December marks the beginning of a new era of win-win cooperation and common development between China and Africa, exerting milestone significance in the development of China-Africa relations. Over the past six months, China and Africa have closely coordinated to overcome the negative impact of the sluggish world economy, reached a series of consensus on the implementation of the summit outcomes and achieved tangible results, showing the vigorous development of China-Africa cooperation.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the Coordinators' Meeting this time is an important step by China and Africa to implement the consensus of Chinese and African leaders and the outcomes of the FOCAC Summit, and it is also a major move to assist the development of China-Africa cooperation. The meeting demonstrates to the world, once again, that no matter how the international situation changes, China and Africa are committed to pursuing unity, cooperation and win-win results, and that China's support for African peace and development will never change. The current weak performance of the world economy brings opportunities and challenges for the economic development of China and Africa, and both sides should stand shoulder to shoulder and march forward hand in hand. The unity of two brothers gives them the strength to cut through metal. The convening of the meeting is at the right time. It is hoped that at the meeting the two sides will exchange views, compare notes, build consensus, promote cooperation, and pool wisdom and strength, so as to vigorously advance friendly cooperation in various fields between both sides and make the results of the summit benefit the 2.4 billion people of China and Africa in a faster and better manner.

Xi Jinping stressed that China pays high attention to developing relations with Africa and will continue to implement the Africa policy featuring sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith, as well as a correct viewpoint of righteousness and benefit. China will take solid steps to implement the outcomes of the FOCAC Summit, and continuously enrich and foster the China-Africa comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership.
