Wang Yi Meets with Minister for External Relations and Cooperation Mohamed Bacar Dossar of Comoros

On July 28, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Minister for External Relations and Cooperation Mohamed Bacar Dossar of Comoros, who was in China to attend the Sherpa Meeting on Implementing Outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Johannesburg Summit.

Wang Yi said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, China-Comoros relations have always enjoyed healthy and smooth development, setting an example for the equal treatment, unity as well as cooperation between big and small countries. China appreciates Comoros for upholding the justice, and publicly supporting China's just stance on the South China Sea issue. China is willing to work with Comoros to closely integrate the ten major China-Africa cooperation plans with the development strategies of Comoros, enhance mutually beneficial cooperation in the four major areas including social affairs and people's livelihood, agriculture, infrastructure and people-to-people and cultural exchanges on a preferential basis, and take the joint-construction of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road as an opportunity to achieve win-win cooperation and common development.

Grateful for China's long-term support to the economic and social development of Comoros, Mohamed Bacar Dossar expressed that the new government of Comoros attaches high importance to developing its relationship with China, and is willing to continuously share mutual understanding and mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns. The country is ready to continuously enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with China in such areas as infrastructure construction, medical care and health, media, human resource development and tourism.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
