Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi of Indonesia

On July 26, 2016 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi of Indonesia while attending a series of Foreign Ministers' meetings on East Asian cooperation in Vientiane, Laos.

Wang Yi stated that as developing countries, China and ASEAN countries are both at the important stage of national development and construction, and need to foster a positive and stable international as well as regional environment for this. Yesterday the China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting issued a joint statement on the full and effective implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC). It helps all parties to enhance mutual trust and get back on the right track of resolving disputes through bilateral dialogue and negotiation, as well as sends a positive signal that China and the ASEAN will jointly safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea. China is willing to join hands with Indonesia in maintaining regional stability and promoting regional development.

Retno Marsudi expressed that China's support is crucial to the ASEAN. The ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers' Meeting concluded yesterday achieved positive results, which is conducive to continuously pushing forward the development of ASEAN-China relations. Indonesia is ready to work together with China in maintaining regional rules and safeguarding regional peace and stability.
