Sri Lanka Understands and Supports China's Stance on South China Sea Issue

On July 8, 2016 local time, when holding talks with Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera of Sri Lanka in Colombo, Foreign Minister Wang Yi introduced China's stance on the South China Sea issue, stressing that China sticks to peacefully resolving disputes through dialogue and negotiation. In accordance with its legitimate rights entitled by the international law, China does not accept nor participate in the so-called South China Sea arbitration case unilaterally filed by the Philippines as well as not acknowledge nor execute so-called arbitration verdict.

Mangala Samaraweera noted that Sri Lanka understands and applauds China's relevant stance, and supports parties directly concerned to resolve relevant disputes through dialogue and consultation in line with the international law and international practices so as to safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea region.
