Wang Yi: Strengthen the Force of Justice and Curb Any Statements and Actions that Turn Back the Wheel of History
2016/07/07

On July 7, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing with Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon of the United Nations (UN).

Wang Yi expressed that July 7 is a date of historic significance. On the same day 79 years ago, at the Lugou Bridge not far away from here, the Chinese people unveiled the prelude of fighting against foreign aggression. The Chinese people finally achieved overall victory of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, which has not only made huge contribution to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, but also laid a solid foundation for the establishment of the UN. During that period, China also supported the struggle for independence and liberation of the Korean nation in various ways.

Wang Yi said that those days were not far from us, since there’s only one generation in between. Looking at the present and reviewing the past, we should not only honor martyrs who sacrificed for national independence and liberation and cherish the hard-won world peace, but also continuously strengthen the force of justice and curb any statements and actions that attempt to turn back the wheel of history.
