Zhang Dejiang Meets with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras of Greece

On July 4, 2016, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met at the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras of Greece.

Zhang Dejiang expressed that both China and Greece are endowed with time-honored history and glorious culture. The two peoples respect each other and have forged profound friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, China-Greece relations have witnessed steady development and productive mutually beneficial cooperation. In particular, when facing hardship or in time of need, the two countries offered immediate assistance to each other. President Xi Jinping has proposed the "Belt and Road" initiative. The Chinese side stands ready to, together with Greece, take the 10 anniversary of the establishment of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership as an opportunity to constantly enhance political mutual trust and traditional friendship and elevate bilateral practical cooperation to a new level. The NPC is willing to continue to strengthen friendly exchanges with the Hellenic Parliament at all levels, enhance mutual understanding, and actively carry out experience exchanges in legislation and state governance and administration so as to create a better policy, rule of law and social environment for bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Alexis Tsipras said that Greece-China friendship enjoys a long-standing history. Greece looks forward to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with China in all areas.
