Liu Yandong Meets with President of the Constitutional Council Laurent Fabius of France

On June 29, 2016 local time, Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with President of the Constitutional Council Laurent Fabius of France at the Council in Paris.

Liu Yandong expressed that under personal care and support of President Xi Jinping and President Fran├žois Hollande, both of us jointly launched the China-France High-level People-to-People and Cultural Exchange Mechanism and successfully held the first meeting in 2014. Over the past two years, with joint efforts of both sides, the mechanism has gained increasing maturity and improvement, and promoted bilateral cooperation in various fields such as education, science and technology, culture, health and sports, playing an important role in enhancing friendship between the two peoples and promoting the in-depth development of China-France relations. At present, the constant and in-depth development of China-France relations, especially bilateral close coordination and cooperation, is making prominent contributions to promoting the Paris Conference on Climate Change to achieve a historic agreement. It is hoped that as a senior French politician and old friend of the Chinese people, you could continue to make new and positive contributions to advancing the development of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

Laurent Fabius noted that the memory of jointly building the France-China High-level People-to-People and Cultural Exchange Mechanism with Vice Premier Liu Yandong during his tenure as Foreign Minister remains fresh in his memory. He is glad to see the achievements yielded from the development of the Mechanism so far. During the successful Paris Conference on Climate Change held by the French side last year, China offered enormous support and made important contribution, to which France expresses in-depth gratitude. He is willing to continuously make positive efforts to enhance France-China friendship and cooperation.
