2016/06/25

On the afternoon of June 25, 2016, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Vladimir Putin of Russia, who was on a state visit to China.

Li Keqiang spoke positively of the current China-Russia relations and progress of cooperation in all fields. He stated that President Xi Jinping's multiple meetings with Mr. President this year have strongly promoted the all-round and in-depth development of China-Russia relations. This year marks the 15th year since the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation Between China and Russia and the 20th year since the establishment of China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination. The development of bilateral relations is facing new opportunities. China is willing to, together with Russia, continue deepening political mutual trust, promote practical cooperation in all fields and facilitate local and non-governmental friendly exchanges, so as to write a new chapter of China-Russia friendship.

Li Keqiang pointed out that at the moment the world economy still faces an increasing number of destabilizing factors and uncertainties. The global economic recovery and economic growth of all countries require a stable political environment. We stand ready to enhance cooperation in docking with the Eurasian Economic Union advocated by Russia and establish institutional arrangements such as trade and investment as well as others as soon as possible. On the principle of shared benefits and risks, we are willing to expand integrated bilateral cooperation throughout the whole industrial chain in energy fields such as oil and gas, nuclear power, coal and electricity. We are ready to promote mutual investment and cooperation in major projects, and conduct financial cooperation in currency swap, payment system and collaborations within multilateral frameworks. Both sides should also join hands in ensuring the success of activities such as China-Russia Media Exchange Year to deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges such as education and strike a deeper chord of China-Russia friendship in the hearts of the two peoples.

Vladimir Putin said that Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination is in a comprehensive, strong and fast development and enjoys broad prospects. China is the largest trading partner of Russia and the foundation of economic cooperation between both countries is increasingly consolidated. Russia is willing to conduct cooperation with China in docking the "Union and Belt" and strive for fruits as early as possible. On the principle of reciprocity and mutual benefits, Russia stands ready to, together with China, actively promote cooperation in production capacity, deepen cooperation in such fields as oil and gas, nuclear power, coal, electricity, aviation, aerospace and transportation infrastructure, conduct the third-party market cooperation and support enlargement of local economic and trade cooperation, so as to jointly enhance both quality and quantity of Russia-China economic and trade cooperation.

Vice Premiers Zhang Gaoli, Liu Yandong and Wang Yang attended the meeting.
