Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Candidate for the Next UN Secretary-General Helen Clark
2016/06/17

On June 15, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Helen Clark, the candidate for the next United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, Administrator of the UN Development Programme and former Prime Minister of New Zealand.

Wang Yi expressed that as the most authoritative and representative inter-governmental international organization, the UN should stick to resolving hotspot issues through political manners, promote the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and promote all kinds of human rights in a balanced manner. China supports the UN to advance with the times, conduct necessary and reasonable reform, increase representativeness and rights to speak of developing countries, and carry out work in a more practical and efficient manner.
