Zhang Dejiang Meets with President Pranab Mukherjee of India

On May 26, 2016, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Pranab Mukherjee of India.

Zhang Dejiang said that in recent years, under personal concerns and guidance of both leaders including President Xi Jinping and Mr. President, China-India strategic cooperative partnership for peace and prosperity has entered into a new period of comprehensive and rapid development. China stands ready to work with India to jointly well implement the important consensus reached by leaders of both countries, enhance political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, and collectively realize the dream of national rejuvenation, so as to make greater contributions to regional and world stability and development. The NPC is willing to further develop friendly relations with the Parliament of India, make good use of exchange mechanisms such as China-India parliamentarians friendship forum and parliamentary friendship group, strengthen experience exchanges, and provide a reliable legal protection for cooperation, so as to better facilitate China-India friendship and promote the development of China-India relations.

Pranab Mukherjee said India supports its Parliament to deepen communication and cooperation with the NPC, so as to boost India-China good-neighbourliness and friendship.
