Prime Minister Najib Razak of Malaysia Meets with Yang Jiechi

On May 10, 2016 local time, Prime Minister Najib Razak of Malaysia met at the Prime Minister's Office with State Councilor Yang Jiechi.

Yang Jiechi expressed that in recent years, China-Malaysia relations have enjoyed rapid and stable development and achieved fruitful results. Leaders of both countries held a series of important meetings last year. China pays high attention to China-Malaysia relations, and stands ready to make joint efforts with Malaysia to implement the important consensus reached by both leaders on deepening all-round practical cooperation, conduct close high-level exchanges, strengthen strategic communication, actively promote the docking of the Belt and Road initiative with Malaysia's development strategies, accelerate cooperation in such fields as production capacity and infrastructure construction between the two countries, and enhance people-to-people and cultural as well as non-governmental exchanges, so as to promote the sustained, healthy and steady development of China-Malaysia relations.

Najib Razak expressed that Malaysia-China relations are rather important. Both countries have conducted close high-level exchanges, continuously strengthened political mutual trust and achieved fruitful results in economic and cultural cooperation, which can be regarded as a good example for relations between countries. The Malaysian side is willing to, from a long-term perspective, actively expand cooperation opportunities between the two countries, and continue to enhance bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, investment, finance, tourism and other areas so as to push for more robust development of Malaysia-China relations.

On that day, Yang Jiechi also respectively met with Foreign Minister Anifah Aman and Minister of Defence Hishammuddin Hussein of Malaysia.
