President Macky Sall of Senegal Meets with Yang Jiechi

On May 6, 2016 local time, President Macky Sall of Senegal met in Dakar with State Councilor Yang Jiechi.

Yang Jiechi conveyed President Xi Jinping's greetings to Macky Sall. Yang Jiechi expressed that the goal of the visit is to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state of China and Senegal and achievements of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), strengthen the docking of both development strategies and promote bilateral friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation. In recent years, both countries have conducted close high-level exchanges, and achieved gratifying results in practical cooperation in various fields. China stands ready to work with Senegal to enhance political mutual trust, promote cooperation and development, actively carry out industrial connection and production capacity cooperation, strengthen cooperation in such fields as infrastructure construction, agriculture, fishery industry, culture and education and tourism, and conduct close coordination and cooperation in international and regional issues between the two sides.

Macky Sall asked Yang Jiechi to convey his greetings to President Xi Jinping. Macky Sall said the success of the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit is conducive to forging Africa-China comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation. President Xi Jinping's speech in the summit conforms to the development needs of Africa, and is deeply welcomed by the African people. Senegal-China relations are full of vitality with fruitful results from cooperation in various fields, and the two sides have broad consensus on a series of important issues. Senegal appreciates China's assistance in its economic and social construction.

On the same day, Yang Jiechi also held talks with Prime Minister Mohammed Dionne of Senegal. Both sides exchanged extensive views on China-Senegal relations and practical cooperation in relevant fields.
