Yang Jiechi Holds Talks with Prime Minister Mohamed Dionne of Senegal

On May 6, 2016 local time, State Councilor Yang Jiechi held talks with Prime Minister Mohamed Dionne of Senegal in Dakar. Several Cabinet Ministers of Senegal attended the talks.

Mohamed Dionne asked Yang Jiechi to convey his greetings to Premier Li Keqiang. Mohamed Dionne expressed that China plays an important role in international affairs and is a good partner of developing countries. Grateful to China's enormous contribution in its development, Senegal highly values its relations with China, stands ready to learn from China's development experience and is willing to enhance cooperation with China in infrastructure, industrial park construction, transportation, agriculture, culture, education, public health and many other areas so as to elevate existing bilateral friendly cooperation to a new high.

Yang Jiechi conveyed regards from Premier Li Keqiang to Mohamed Dionne. Yang Jiechi noted that China-Senegal cooperation has yielded fruitful results in various areas including politics, economy, trade, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The bilateral trade especially has increased against the slowing trend, demonstrating the sound momentum of the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. China is willing to, together with Senegal, well implement the important consensus reached by both leaders as well as the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit in Johannesburg, give full play to the three prominent advantages of both countries, namely political mutual trust, economic complementarity and civilization mutual learning so as to create a new prospect for bilateral friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Yang Jiechi said that both sides should continue to give play to the role of political guidance and devote efforts in promoting industrial alignment and production capacity cooperation. China is willing to share experience in economic development, support the Senegalese side in building industrial parks near the port or along the expressway and developing the "Smart Senegal" project, and support Chinese enterprises to invest in the processing and manufacturing industry of Senegal and deepen cooperation in agriculture and fishery. It is hoped that both sides can further expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges in culture, education, tourism, health care, public health, local affairs and other fields and strengthen coordination and mutual support in international and regional affairs.
