China and Indonesia Hold the 5th Meeting of Bilateral Dialogue Mechanism at Deputy Prime Minister Level

On April 26, 2016, the 5th meeting of China-Indonesia dialogue mechanism at deputy prime minister level was held in Beijing. State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Luhut Panjaitan of Indonesia co-chaired the meeting.

Yang Jiechi expressed that China-Indonesia relations enjoy a sound development with close high-level exchanges, constantly expanding cooperation in various fields and close communication and mutual support in international affairs. Facing the current international and regional situation, the two sides should grasp the overall situation of bilateral relations, strengthen strategic cooperation in political security between the two countries, expand and deepen practical cooperation in various fields from a strategic height and long-term perspective, so as to continuously inject new impetus to the development of China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership.

Luhut Panjaitan expressed that the Indonesian side stands ready to make joint efforts with China to enhance cooperation in various fields including politics, economy and trade as well as security, so as to promote the further development of bilateral relations.

Both sides agreed that the two countries should continue to maintain high-level exchanges, strengthen strategic communication, constantly promote political mutual trust, actively synergize the development strategies between the two countries, and continue to boost practical cooperation in such areas as railway, electricity, mining industry, aerospace, agriculture and fishery. Both countries need to deepen security cooperation in defense, anti-terrorism, drug control, law enforcement and network, strengthen maritime cooperation, and build a marine partnership featuring mutual respect, mutual benefit and reciprocity.

The two sides agreed to actively promote cooperation in East Asia, advance a continuous and stable development of China-ASEAN relations, enhance coordination and cooperation in international organizations and multilateral mechanisms and make more contribution to safeguarding peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

After the meeting, Yang Jiechi and Luhut Panjaitan jointly witnessed the signing of relevant bilateral cooperation documents.
