Prime Minister Xavier Bettel of Luxembourg Meets with Yang Jiechi

On April 15, 2016, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel of Luxembourg met at prime minister's office with State Councilor Yang Jiechi.

Xavier Bettel asked Yang Jiechi to convey his greetings to Premier Li Keqiang. Xavier Bettel said that Luxembourg and China are real cooperative partners with sound relations and mutual trust. Luxembourg is very honored to be the first European country that has applied to join the Asian Investment Infrastructure Bank (AIIB), and is willing to be a gateway for Chinese enterprises to enter Europe. Luxembourg is ready to further strengthen cooperation with China in economy and trade, finance, transportation and other areas, and continue to deepen the friendly and cooperative relations with China based on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.

Yang Jiechi conveyed the greetings from Premier Li Keqiang to Xavier Bettel. Yang Jiechi noted that China and Luxembourg have always enjoyed mutual respect, understanding and support on those issues related to each other's core interests and major concerns, laying a solid political foundation for the development of bilateral relations, and providing strong political guarantee for bilateral cooperation in various fields. China appreciates Luxembourg for taking a lead in Europe to join the AIIB, and regards Luxembourg as a reliable friend and cooperative partner. China stands ready to work with Luxembourg to enhance high-level exchanges, expand cooperation in economy, finance, aviation, tourism and other fields, boost people-to-people and cultural exchanges and strengthen coordination and communication in international affairs. China and Luxembourg enjoy prominent advantages in bilateral cooperation in such areas as finance, air-freight service and steel. It is hoped that both sides could beef up communication and coordination in economic and trade policies, continuously tap potential for trade growth, expand mutual investment and realize win-win cooperation. It is hoped that Luxembourg could play a more positive role in boosting China-Europe relations.
