Foreign Minister Wang Yi Attends Working Lunch of Diplomatic Envoys to China of the EU and Its Member States

On April 15, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended at invitation the working lunch of diplomatic envoys of the European Union (EU) and its member states.

Wang Yi said, last year marked the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and the EU. Both sides took it as an opportunity to strengthen China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership and implement China-EU 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation, so as to push forward the development of China-EU four major partnerships for peace, growth, reform and civilization. The two sides should continuously maintain the good development momentum of China-EU relations, integrate the Belt and Road initiative with the development strategy of Europe, and build cooperation platforms of China-EU joint investment fund, connectivity, legal affairs dialogue, digitization cooperation, facilitation of personnel exchanges and others. China is willing to closely communicate and coordinate with the EU to make sure the success of the 18th China-EU Summit to be held within this year.

The Head of the EU Delegation to China Hans-Dietmar Schweisgut, on behalf of the EU, thanked Foreign Minister Wang Yi for his support to the development of EU-China relations. He said that the EU is in full anticipation of the development of EU-China relations this year and is willing to carry out the EU-China 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation with China and successfully hold the 18th EU-China Summit so as to promote the EU-China cooperation for constant and new achievements.

Wang Yi answered questions on the Belt and Road initiative as well as current international and regional hotspot issues concerned by the diplomatic envoys.
