Wang Yi Meets with Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Ignacio Ybáñez Rubio of Spain

On April 11, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Ignacio Ybáñez Rubio of Spain, who was in China to hold the political consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of China and Spain.

Wang Yi stated that China and Spain maintain the momentum of development in exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and the two sides coordinate with each other in many international and regional issues. China speaks positively of Spanish government's understanding and support of China's core interests and major concerns. China considers Spain as an important cooperative partner in the EU. The two sides should continue to deepen understanding and mutual trust, and properly handle bilateral sensitive issues on the basis of equality, respect, mutual understanding and mutual accommodation so as to push for continuous progress of bilateral relations.

Ignacio Ybáñez Rubio expressed that the Spanish government highly values the comprehensive strategic partnership between Spain and China. Spain is willing to work with China to maintain high-level mutual visits, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, enhance communication and coordination on international affairs, and properly handle the individual cases in bilateral relations so as to constantly inject positive energy into Spain-China relations.
