Yang Jiechi Meets with Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany

On April 8, 2016, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met in Beijing with Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany.

Yang Jiechi expressed that recently, China-Germany relations are developing smoothly with close high-level exchanges between the two countries and fruitful results yielded from inter-governmental consultation mechanisms such as the China-Germany Strategic Dialogue on Diplomacy and Security. Both sides should implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, enhance the docking of development strategies as well as practical cooperation in various fields between the two sides, and promote China-Germany relations to continue achieving greater development on a high-level basis. China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with Germany to ensure the success of the G20 Summit to be held in Hangzhou this year.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier stated that Germany-China relations are in a sound state and Germany is willing to continuously enhance communication and consultation in all levels with China, push cooperation in all fields, maintain close communication in international affairs, and work together to jointly promote the G20 Summit this year for achievements.

Both sides also exchanged views on the European situation, Iranian nuclear issue, Syrian situation and other international and regional hotspot issues.
