Zhang Dejiang Meets with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev of Russia

On December 16, 2015, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met at the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev of Russia.

Zhang Dejiang said that heads of state of China and Russia had multiple meetings this year, and together they identified the strategic direction and goals for the development of bilateral relations under the new situation and guided the in-depth development of high-level comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between both countries. The cooperation with the Conference of Russian Federation is a priority in NPC's external relations. This year, both sides established a new mechanism of China-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and successfully held its first meeting. China will work with Russia to earnestly implement the consensus reached by both heads of state, increase political mutual support, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning in legislation and promote practical cooperation in local affairs, people-to-people and cultural engagement and other fields so as to make greater contribution to the synergy of building of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as to the long-lasting friendship of both countries.

Dmitry Medvedev expressed his expectation that the Conference of Russian Federation and the NPC of China will enhance coordination on global and regional issues and promote bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, political parties, local affairs and other areas.
