Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan

On the afternoon of December 15, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Yingbin Hotel of the Yellow River in Zhengzhou with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan who was in China to attend the 14th Prime Ministers’ Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States.

Li Keqiang said that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners boasting strong political mutual trust. The two sides have conducted all-around cooperation and have always firmly supported each other on issues concerning respective core interests. China is willing to make joint efforts with Pakistan to continuously advance bilateral relations towards greater depths.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is both a strategic project and a major program for people’s livelihood and in their interests. China stands ready to join hands with Pakistan to follow the “1+4” cooperation layout, namely to push forward the corridor construction in a high-quality, high-efficiency and steady manner, pay special attention to the follow-up work at the Gwadar Port, advance relevant energy projects with quality guarantee as scheduled, implement earnestly key projects of transportation infrastructure and step up industrial cooperation, so as to push mutually beneficial cooperation to develop in a more in-depth way and better benefit the two peoples.

Nawaz Sharif expressed that Pakistan and China enjoy brotherly friendship. The Pakistani government devotes to developing relations with China and will actively promote the construction of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor, ensure timely implementation of relevant projects and spare no effort to guarantee the safety of Chinese engineering construction staff. Pakistan pays high attention to the SCO practical cooperation.
