2015/11/25

On November 25, 2015, President Xi Jinping held talks with President Andrzej Duda of Poland at the Great Hall of the People. The two heads of state decided to join efforts to promote the development level of China-Poland strategic partnership so as to inject new impetus into China-Europe relations and the "16+1 cooperation" of China and the Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC).

Xi Jinping extended welcome for Andrzej Duda' s visit to China and attendance of the 4th Summit of China and the CEEC. He pointed out that Poland was one of the first countries that recognized and established diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. Since the two countries established the strategic partnership in 2011, their all-round practical cooperation has constantly advanced. Both sides should further elevate political mutual trust, keep high-level exchanges, enhance exchanges and cooperation between governments, legislative bodies, political parties and others, and strengthen communication and coordination in international affairs. Both sides should cement the foundation for practical cooperation, and speed up connection between the "Belt and Road" initiative and the development strategy of Poland. China encourages its competent enterprises to continue to explore Polish market and welcomes Polish enterprises to develop in China. Both sides can further discuss the plan to build a new logistic route and a new logistic center covering Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) with Poland as the hub. China will expand cooperation with Poland in such fields as finance, equipment manufacturing, environmental protection, new energy, ICT, agriculture, science and technology, e-commerce and infrastructure construction. Both sides should expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and enhance cooperation in such areas as tourism, education, local affairs and sports to promote mutual understanding between the two peoples.

Xi Jinping stressed that China views and develops its relations with the EU from a long-term and strategic perspective. China and the EU are taking the opportunity of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations to comprehensively put into place the four major partnerships of peace, growth, reform and civilization and push connection between the "Belt and Road" initiative and the EU's development strategy. It is hoped that Poland will exert positive influence in the EU to advance China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership and will continuously care for and support the "16+1 cooperation".

Andrzej Duda expressed that China is an important member of the international community and deepening bilateral traditional friendship is in the interests of Poland. Poland agrees to boost bilateral high-level exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement and other fields, and will make active efforts for the development of EU-China relations including the "16+1 cooperation". As a transportation and logistic hub of Europe, Poland will play an important role in the cooperation of "Belt and Road" construction and actively participate in the work of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

Following the talks, the two heads of state together witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation documents in such areas as tourism, finance, trade and production capacity.

Prior to the talks, Xi Jinping held a welcome ceremony for Andrzej Duda in the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People. Zhang Ping, Yang Jiechi, Wang Jiarui and others were present.
