Xi Jinping noted that China and Malaysia, facing each other across the sea, are good neighbors and partners that trust and respect each other. It is in the fundamental and long-term interests of both sides to deepen good-neighborly and friendly cooperation between China and Malaysia. China will continue taking development of relations with Malaysia as one of the top priorities in its neighboring diplomacy, and work with Malaysia to constantly enrich the connotation of the China-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership, elevate bilateral practical cooperation and better benefit the two peoples. Both sides should step up efforts to dock their development strategies, and take the building of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road as a new converging point to inject new vitality to China-Malaysia practical cooperation and to enhance cooperation in economy, trade, connectivity, infrastructure and other sectors. China will continue encouraging competent enterprises to invest and develop in Malaysia. Bilateral cooperation in law-enforcement and defense should also be boosted. As the rotating presidency of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) this year, Malaysia plays a positive role in promoting the China-ASEAN strategic partnership, which China appreciates. China will support Malaysia in hosting a series of Leaders' Meetings on East Asia Cooperation.

Xi Jinping emphasized that the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting this year is an important agenda in the process of Asia-Pacific cooperation. China attaches importance to the role of Malaysia in Asia-Pacific cooperation, and stands ready to work with all parties including Malaysia to boost coordination and cooperation within the APEC framework, comprehensively implement various consensus and results including the APEC Connectivity Blueprint, promote Asia-Pacific cooperation, and make contributions to economic growth in both Asia-Pacific and the world at large.

Najib Razak agrees to Xi Jinping on his positive comments on Malaysia-China relations, noting that the Malaysia-China relations are standing at the best period in history with both sides maintaining a high-level mutual trust and two peoples holding friendly affections towards each other. China comprehensively deepening reforms brings Malaysia-China cooperation more opportunities. Malaysia hopes to deepen cooperation with China in finance, infrastructure and connectivity and supports the “Belt and Road” initiative. As the presidency of the ASEAN, Malaysia actively devotes itself to developing the strategic partnership between the ASEAN and China and believes that issues suspending between Malaysia and China should not affect the mutually beneficial cooperation in a wide range of areas between the ASEAN and China. Malaysia supports all members to reach a Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) at an early date.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others were present at the meeting.
