On September 18 local time, Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with First Secretary of State and Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne of the UK at No. 11 Downing Street in London.

Liu Yandong said that China-UK relations boast strong development momentum, and bilateral practical cooperation in all areas enjoys fruitful results, which not only benefit the two peoples but also make significant contribution to the development of the world. China is willing to join efforts with the UK to take President Xi Jinping's upcoming visit to the UK as an opportunity to upgrade the bilateral relations to a new level.

George Osborne said that the current UK-China relations are developing smoothly, and China is a significant global partner of the UK in aspects such as security and economic growth. He is looking forward to visiting China for the seventh China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue a few days later, and hopes to further promote bilateral practical cooperation in areas such as finance, nuclear power and urban development.
