Liu Yandong Meets with Prime Minister David Cameron of the UK

On September 17 local time, Vice Premier Liu Yandong met in London with Prime Minister David Cameron of the UK.

Liu Yandong conveyed greetings of President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to David Cameron. She expressed that President Xi Jinping will soon pay a state visit to the UK next month, which will be the first state visit paid by a Chinese president to the UK in the decade and bears great historical significance to the future development of China-UK relations. It is believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, President Xi Jinping's visit will certainly achieve a complete success. Since the establishment of the China-UK High-Level People-to-people Exchange Mechanism three years ago, it has played an important role in guiding, planning and promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two nations and yielded plenty of positive results. The Chinese side stands ready to work with the UK side to continuously construct and give full play to the mechanism so as to make positive contributions to enhancing understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

David Cameron asked Liu Yandong to convey his greetings to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. He expressed that this year marks the "golden year" for the development of UK-China relations. President Xi Jinping's forthcoming state visit to the UK will usher in a "golden age" for UK-China relations. The UK side attaches great importance to this visit and will enhance cooperation with the Chinese side to make full preparations for its complete success. The UK side is willing to continue to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese side in economy, culture and other fields.
