Liu Yandong Meets with First Minister Carwyn Jones of Wales

On September 18 local time, Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with First Minister Carwyn Jones of Wales in Cardiff.

Liu Yandong said that the relationship between China and Wales is an important component of China-UK relations and vividly embodies the constant deepening of friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK. In recent years, exchanges and practical cooperation between China and Wales have been constantly expanded. The two sides enjoy obvious complementary advantages in cooperation in such fields as automobiles, life sciences, new energy, and information and communications, and a promising future in cooperation in people-to-people and cultural engagement. China is willing to make joint efforts with the people of Wales to tap the potential and yield more practical results in more extensive cooperation between the two sides in the areas of people-to-people and cultural engagement including education and culture.

Carwyn Jones said that Wales and China have witnessed constantly increasing friendly exchanges in recent years. The people of Wales attach importance to and hold positive views on China, and hope to develop closer cooperative relations with China. He hoped that Wales will take visit of Vice Premier Liu Yandong as an opportunity to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with China in such fields as economy, investment and trade. He expressed his belief that the signing of the agreements between the two sides on the joint establishment of the School of Chinese as well as promotion of cultural exchanges and cooperation will further enhance understanding and friendship between the Welsh and Chinese peoples.
